About Alaska Center for Dermatology

To help fill Alaska’s need for a cutting-edge, comprehensive clinic offering both medical and cosmetic dermatology, Dr. Peter Ehrnstrom opened the Alaska Center for Dermatology in Anchorage, Alaska, in 2003. Since then, he has worked to bring some of the area’s brightest dermatologists and other dermatology professionals to his practice. Today, the Alaska Center for Dermatology is home to six medical doctors and two physician assistants as well as a friendly support staff. Together we offer a full range of dermatology services for people of all ages.

Get to know Dr. Peter Ehrnstrom

Expertise:

Dr. Ehrnstrom is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon with specialized training and knowledge that has made him the most experienced Mohs surgeon in Anchorage and Alaska. His extensive expertise in dermatology also includes cutaneous medicine, oncology and telemedicine/telehealth program design.

Personal History:

Dr. Ehrnstrom was born and raised in Michigan. He graduated from the University of Michigan and then went on to medical school at Weill Cornell Medical College. He later completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and his residency in dermatology at Yale University. Stationed at Elmendorf AFB for nearly nine years, then Lt. Col. Ehrnstrom decided to separate from the US Air Force and opened Alaska Center for Dermatology in 2003. Dr. Ehrnstrom is a tenor in the Anchorage Concert Chorus and has developed a habit of running the New York City Marathon year after year. He and his wife, Thaysa, live in Anchorage with their two daughters.

Get to know Dr. Margretta O'Reilly

Expertise:

Dr. O'Reilly is a board-certified dermatologist with extensive experience in clinical research, psoriasis and medical dermatology.

Personal History:

Dr. O'Reilly is a graduate of the Union University Medical Education Program in New York. She completed residencies at Oregon Health Sciences University and the University of Utah. Dr. O'Reilly came to Alaska in 1990. She enjoys bicycling, flying, hiking and skiing. She calls winter biking in and around Anchorage a favorite activity.

Get to know Dr. Robert Moreland

Expertise:

Dr. Moreland is a board-certified dermatologist with extensive experience in medical and surgical care as well as laser procedures. Prior to joining the Alaska Center for Dermatology in December 2005, Dr. Moreland spent 10 years on active duty in the United States Air Force, including more than three years as Chief of Dermatology at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska.

Personal History:

Dr. Moreland was born in Dallas, Texas and raised in Boulder, Colorado. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio and completed his residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. In his free time Dr. Moreland enjoys hunting, fishing, cooking, summer bike rides and exploring the outdoors with his wife and their two children.

Get to know Dr. Gina Brown

Expertise:

Dr. Brown is a board-certified dermatologist and pediatrician with specialized training in the diagnosis and management of pediatric skin conditions. Her medical interests include birthmarks (hemangiomas, port wine stains, congenital nevi), genetic skin disorders, atopic dermatitis, pediatric dermatologic surgery, and providing care to underserved populations in the U.S. and abroad.

Personal History:

Dr. Brown received her medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine. She completed residencies in pediatrics and dermatology at the University of Colorado, followed by a fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Oregon Health & Science University. She spent time in Guatemala, Tanzania, Lesotho and Botswana during her medical training. Outside of work, Dr. Brown enjoys spending time with her husband and daughters, yoga, hiking, biking and snowboarding. She also enjoys (really) long-distance cycling, with her longest ride being from San Francisco to Washington D.C

Get to know Dr. Angela Covington

Expertise:

Dr. Covington is a board-certified dermatologist with an interest in general medical dermatology. She has previously worked as a dermatologist at Bend Memorial Clinic in Bend, Oregon.

Personal History:

Dr. Covington received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University and then returned to her hometown of Los Angeles, CA to attend medical school at the University of Southern California. She subsequently completed an internship at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, CA and dermatology residency at the University of Colorado. Dr. Covington loves living in Anchorage and spends her free time enjoying Alaska with her husband and their young children.

Get to know Kim Kinnebrew, PA-C

Expertise:

Kim is a certified Physician Assistant specializing in dermatology and has Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support certifications. Before beginning work at the Alaska Center for Dermatology Kim worked at Southcentral Foundation, Anchorage Native Tribal Health Consortium, and Providence Alaska Medical Center.

Personal History:

Kim was born and raised here in Alaska. She received her Bachelor of Science in exercise and sports physiology from Oregon State University and received her PA certification from the University of Washington School of Medicine. Outside of her work, Kim extends her talents to the kitchen and the athletic field, enjoying cooking and sports with her husband and their two sons.

Get to know Dr. Stephanie McLeish

Expertise:

Dr. McLeish is a board-certified dermatologist experienced in medical and surgical care. She served 20 years on active duty in the United States Air Force before joining the Alaska Center for Dermatology. Prior to her training in Dermatology, she was an Internal Medicine physician.

Personal History:

Dr. McLeish was born in Bismarck, North Dakota but was raised on a farm in Costa Rica. She graduated from medical school at the University of South Florida. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Keesler AFB Medical center and her Dermatology residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. Dr. McLeish enjoys hiking, fishing, mountain biking, kayaking, scuba diving, above and below water photography, and world travel. She is fluent in Spanish.
