Anti-Aging Treatment for Wrinkles
As we age, our faces naturally lose subcutaneous fat. The facial muscles work closer to the skin surface so wrinkles such as smile lines, crow’s feet, and worry lines become more visible. The facial skin also stretches a bit, adding to a loss of facial volume. Sun exposure, heredity, and lifestyle also affect your face's skin and can make you look older than you feel.
Fortunately, our anti-aging treatments can help you look and feel better. Our experienced cosmetic team uses Botox® injections to restore facial volume, smooth out wrinkles, and shape the contours of the face to provide a more youthful look. Facial lines are diminished and volume and fullness are restored.
Botox® Cosmetic is a naturally derived protein that temporarily blocks nerves that activate the muscles that cause you to frown or have wrinkles. This non-surgical wrinkle treatment prevents you from contracting muscles in the treated area, resulting in wrinkles that are diminished or disappear — and smoother, more youthful looking skin.
Botox® helps reduce and smooth out wrinkles caused by facial expression, and can be used to reduce wrinkles in the forehead, eyebrow, and crow’s feet areas. Using advanced techniques, Botox® can improve wrinkly chins, drooping mouth corners, and prominent bands in the neck.
Botox® treatments typically last 4-6 months. When the muscles begin to wake up and wrinkles reappear, you may choose to schedule another appointment. With repeated injections over time, the affected muscles may become weaker. This may result in a less frequent necessity for treatments.

Getting rid of stubborn fat with non-invasive body contouring
Stubborn fat pockets around the hips and abdomen can be difficult to lose. Through the ups and downs of Alaskan seasons, it can feel nearly impossible to get rid of love handles or stomach fat. No matter how much you exercise or how healthy you eat, these problem areas can often be frustrating to get rid of. That’s where SculpSure™ comes in – our newest body sculpting cosmetic treatment at Alaska Center for Dermatology.
The newly-FDA approved SculpSure™ targets problem areas and reduces stubborn fat by up to 24% – without invasive surgery. This simple cosmetic treatment destroys the fat cells using a light-based technology without damaging the integrity of your skin.
What to expect at your appointment At your first appointment, your dermatologist and body sculpting specialist will work with you to develop the right treatment plan to reach your goals. During the 25-minute session of SculpSure™, patients can expect to feel simple intervals of cooling and warming sensations as SculpSure™ targets the stubborn fat cells. After the SculpSure™ treatment the body absorbs and naturally removes the destroyed fat cells from the body, leaving you with a slimmer look in just six to 12 weeks. There is no downtime with this treatment, so you can resume your usual activity immediately after the 25-minute session.

What causes spider veins?
Spider veins, often known as “roadmap” veins, are close to the surface of the skin and can appear red, purple, or blue. These veins are commonly found on the legs, arms, and face and may cover either a very small or very large area of skin.
Spider veins can be caused by the backup of blood. If you stand regularly for long periods of time you may be susceptible to spider veins. They can also be caused by hormone changes, sun exposure, and injuries.
We offer various treatments for spider veins including sclerotherapy.

Excess hair on the face, chest, and back is a condition also known as hirsutism. Commonly affecting women, it can be caused by higher levels of male hormones, ethnic heritage, or family genetics. A combination of self-care and professional treatment can be used to treat excess or unwanted hair.
Other, rare causes of unwanted hair growth may include:
- Tumor or cancer of the adrenal gland
- Tumor or cancer of the ovary
- Cushing syndrome
- Congenital adrenal hyperplasia
- Hyperthecosis (a condition in which the ovaries produce too much male hormones)
- Use of certain medicines including testosterone, danazol, anabolic steroids, glucocorticoids, cyclosporine, minoxidil, and phenytoin
You should see a doctor about unwanted hair if:
- Hair grows rapidly
- You also have male features such as acne, deepening voice, increased muscle mass, and decreased breast size
- You are concerned that medication may be worsening unwanted hair growth
Our experienced team can remove unwanted hair comfortably and effectively using GentleLase Pro technology.
