Meet Team Alaska Center for Dermatology 

Dr. Peter Ehrnstrom, M.D., is a Board-Certified Dermatologist and Dermatologic Surgeon with specialized expertise in Mohs Micrographic Surgery. As the most experienced Mohs Surgeon in Anchorage and Alaska, Dr. Ehrnstrom has dedicated his career to providing exceptional care in cutaneous medicine and oncology. His extensive knowledge and advanced surgical skills have made him a trusted leader in skin cancer treatment and Dermatologic care. 

Dr. Ehrnstrom completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan before earning his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. He then pursued a medical internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a Dermatology residency at Yale University. His service as Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force stationed him at Elmendorf AFB for nearly nine years before he separated from the military and established Alaska Center for Dermatology in 2003. 

A distinguished member of the medical community, Dr. Ehrnstrom is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He is also a Member of the American Society for Mohs Surgery, the Alaska State Medical Association, and the Dermatology Foundation Annenberg Society. Additionally, he is qualified in telemedicine and telehealth program design, ensuring accessibility to Dermatologic care for patients across Alaska. 

Beyond his medical practice, Dr. Ehrnstrom and his wife, Thaysa, reside in Anchorage with their two daughters. An active member of the local arts community, he shares his passion for music as a tenor in the Anchorage Concert Chorus. 

Dr. Ehrnstrom’s dedication to excellence in Dermatologic care, patient well-being, and community involvement continues to make him a trusted and respected figure in Alaska’s Medical Dermatology field.

Peter Ehrnstrom, M.D., FAAD, FASDA

Dr. Robert Moreland is a Board-Certified Dermatologist with extensive expertise in Medical and Surgical Dermatology, as well as advanced laser procedures. With a career spanning decades, Dr. Moreland is dedicated to providing comprehensive skin care, ensuring patients receive the highest level of treatment. 

Before joining the Alaska Center for Dermatology in 2005, Dr. Moreland served 10 years on active duty with the United States Air Force, where he honed his skills in Dermatologic care. As Chief of Dermatology at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage for over three years, he played a key role in treating military personnel and their families. 

Born in Dallas, Texas, and raised in Boulder, Colorado, Dr. Moreland pursued his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He then completed his residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and an esteemed member of multiple medical organizations. 

Outside of work, Dr. Moreland enjoys exploring Alaska’s outdoors with his family. His favorite pastimes include hunting, fishing, cooking, and summer bike rides, embracing the beauty of the Last Frontier.

Robert Moreland, M.D., FAAD

Dr. Michael Michener is a Board-Certified Dermatologist with a distinguished 20-year career in the United States Air Force, where he served as Chief of Dermatology at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) for six years. A Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a Member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Dr. Michener brings extensive expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of skin conditions. 

Originally from Maryland, Dr. Michener completed his undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech before earning his medical degree at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He began his medical career as a family medicine physician in the Air Force before pursuing specialized training in Dermatology at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Consortium. His dedication to patient care and medical excellence has made him a trusted provider in the field. 

Beyond his practice, Dr. Michener is passionate about his community and enjoys coaching local youth sports teams. An outdoor enthusiast, he spends his free time mountain trail running, skiing, and fishing throughout Southcentral Alaska with his wife and three children. His commitment to both his patients and his community makes him an invaluable part of the Alaska Dermatology landscape.

Michael Michener, M.D., FAAD

Pamela Haughom, PA-C, is a dedicated Certified Physician Assistant specializing in Medical Dermatology and skin cancer treatments. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Pam earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois before completing the Physician Assistant Program at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. 

Pam began her career in orthopedic surgery, spending five years in Chicago assisting in surgical procedures and coordinating patient care. She later expanded her expertise at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, where she played a key role in providing multidisciplinary care for patients with complex bladder, kidney, and prostate cancers. 

After relocating to Alaska, Pam continued her work in surgical oncology, focusing on patient education and treatment coordination for various cancers, including melanoma. Her deep interest in melanoma care ultimately led her to transition into Dermatology, where she now specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide range of skin conditions. 

Outside of work, Pam enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, exploring the outdoors through hiking, traveling to new destinations, and baking.

Ivy Parayo is a Certified Physician Assistant with a background in orthopedic surgery and a passion for Dermatology. Ivy brings a unique perspective and dedication to delivering top-notch care to our patients. 
 
A proud alumna of the University of Alaska and the University of Washington School of Medicine MEDEX Northwest, Ivy’s journey in healthcare is rooted in excellence and compassion. She utilizes evidence-based medicine to provide comprehensive care that meets the diverse needs of our community. 
 
Ivy’s collaborative approach ensures that every patient receives personalized treatment tailored to their specific concerns. Her commitment to quality shines through as she works alongside our team of Dermatology Providers to deliver the highest standard of care.
